Health Risks of Roundup
Research conducted by The International Journal of Cancer confirmed that those exposed to Roundup on a regular basis were twice as likely to develop non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the blood. While this cancer is the most commonly contracted disease from those effected by glyphosate, it has also been known to cause other illnesses. Roundup has been linked to the following illnesses and diseases:
- Leukemia
- B-cell lymphoma
- Multiple myeloma
- Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Individuals who have been exposed to Roundup on a daily basis, such as farm workers, face the highest risk, but anyone exposed to it could be affected. Activities such as mixing the herbicide solution, cleaning it up, spraying it, having it sprayed onto you, breathing in the spray, or eating or drinking something exposed to it can be risky.
Monsanto has denied these claims, even as internal documents have shown they knew the product might be unsafe. Verdicts are being handed down against Monsanto since it appears that they placed their desire for profits before consumer safety.
