Negligence Causes Boating Accidents
You never know what is going to happen on the open water of the sea, but with precautions and training, you can boat responsibly and safely. Problems arise when other boaters are not being as careful or attentive. While some boating accidents are caused by harsh weather conditions and boat defects, most can be traced back to someone else’s negligence.
Causes of boating accidents and injuries include but are not limited to:
- Boating while intoxicated
- Boating too closely and causing disruptive wakes
- Inadequate safety equipment like missing life jackets
- Speeding in the harbor, bay, or port
Let us know if you have any evidence that shows the other boater’s negligence that contributed to your boating accident. For example, is there any video footage from a passenger’s smartphone that shows the moments before the crash? It might be that the video shows the other boater speeding, holding an alcoholic beverage, or engaging in any other form of boating negligence.
